Phoenix Rising Music

The Phoenix Rising is a four piece indie rock outfit hailing from Chicago, IL. Forming in the spring of 2002 and signing to Action Heights Records in January of 2003, The Phoenix Rising has released a six song EP, entitled "The Looking Glass War", with their debut full length, produced by John Naclerio (My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail, Armor for Sleep, Steel Train, etc.), due out January 2004. With a national tour and countless shows throughout the Midwest under their belt, supporting such acts as Spitalfield, Allister, Dead Poetic, the Beautiful Mistake, Beloved and Alexisonfire, they were making a lasting impression on audiences until they broke up in December of 2005. 3 of the members formed Holographic Angels, and one went on to form the band Lamps.

Now this is a kick-... release! This is Aussie black/death at its Satanic best! With band memebers names such as KK Warslut and Bullet Eater, you know this is good!

A killer into of spoken word kicks of the album which leads into the pounding "Rise of the Predator." The best songs are the lengthy "I am the Wargod (ode to the battle slain)," the remarkable "Lone Wolf Winter," and the equally amazing "The Eternal Glory of War."

If you enjoy black/death/speed metal with very competant guitar-work, then this is a release for you!

CD will sound dated to many since it has an 80s flavor to it but
if you like Starship, Foreigner or Survivor, you will like this CD. Kevin Chalfant's work with the STORM and TWO FIRES is better
but this CD still warrants a listen.

Remember what you were doing in 1986? I was junior in my college enjoying intercollegiate debate. It was also heydey of melodic rock giants such as Journey, Boston, Survivor,Toto and Night Ranger. VU was founded in 1984 by Ross Valory who just left Journey and Kevin Chalfant we now know as the vocalist of Storm and Two Fires. If luck served them they could have been one of such giants who dominated US charts. This album was the most unlucky case. Never released. But you can clearly see this album which might have been released around 1986 was later developed into the band Storm a couple of years later.

Now thanks to the resurgence of melodic rock community this album finally sees the light of day.

Album sounds close to Heart or Starship and in fact second track Key To The City was to be used for Starship's No Protection. Opening track Who You Gonna Believe was later used for Cher's Love Hurts in 1991. Recomennded tracks are #4 track Save It For Me, #6track If I Had Back Here With Me.

A Must for Storm, Two Fires fans. Recommended for Heart, Starship, Journey and Survivor fans.
