Sounds great and very well put together. But, If you don't like the live concert sound with audience background noise this cd is not for you.

Live performances that should please both salsa and jazz fans. The Artistes are evidently having a good time playing with and to the audience, judging by the amount of applause generated at appropriate moments. It all makes you wish that you had been there in Madison Square Garden.
The downside to this collection is that you can't really mix the applause out, so I'm going to save this gem to enjoy in the comfort of my own home.

Ahhh, real salsa, the kind you rarely hear anymore!

Every single artist on this CD wears a crown for his/her craft! The days when you could (without fear) stand and dance to the music at the Fania All Stars at Madison Square Garden are gone...but the legacy will never fade. This CD envelops the hearer with the sound of every instrument played and the ballads bathe your ears like a warm waterfall. A must-have for every latino who truly appreciates his/her culture! Pass it on to the next generation.....

A fantastic album

Good album, but sounds a little off

I'd give it 4 stars but the introduction tracks are annoying and the "live" sound sounds fake to me. The crowd feels artificial, the recordings sound almost studio like, and the segways don't sound right.
If you can get past that, the music is great.

A thousand carats inspiration!

What makes the difference between the approach given by Bebo Valdes and the rest of the pianist of his generation is very simple. He seems to epitomize the feeling of the Latin music like no other interpreter. His mesmerizing phrasing, admirable melodic tune, fabulous octaves and enrapturing skill to convey the most exigent listener to new horizons is what makes the difference.

The whole CD is a true inspirational work. You should not miss one of his most careful, inspired and fabulous recordings along his golden trajectory.

one of Cuba' best musician

BEBO VALDES is one of the greatest musician that Cuba has, his son Chucho Valdes has carry his name with honor and continue advancing in the new and always infinite new rythoms of Cuban music. His nepew Freddi who I know personnalise is also a great talent. Cuba is the only country in the world that has and always will have the most talented and inventing musician .

The Elis Regina Rare-Single-Collection
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2003-05-18
Don't take it as a lesser album: it is the compilation of very rare single songs which have never shown on any album. Here you will find a wide span of songs and recordings with many different ensembles. There is one curious item here: her recordings with the Brazilian football player Pelé. Furthermore, the same artistry and command of this Brazilian vocal master.

Simplesmente maravilhoso

Para tudos os fas da Elis, este cd é uma oportunidade única de possuir gravacoes pouco conhecidas, só aparecidas em compactos simples e duplos nos anos sessenta; como uma gravacao do concerto oferecido na Franca em 1969.
