Latin Jazz Music

I have heard some of his music, but never owned one of his CD's.. The more I listened to this CD the more obvious became to me that this man is an incredible composer/poet and singer. The arragements and production of this record is impecable; his lyrics are poetic, his vocalization of these Lyrics is beautiful, original AND VERY UNIQUE. Not to mention all the virtuosos that contributed their talents in this music. Bassist Ron Carter, Pianist Herbie Hancock and Guitarist Pat Metheny to name some...This CD is my favorite "Sunny Saturday Morning" CD. It is very GOOD !!

I love Milton Nascimento's early work ("Travessia" and "Clube Da Esquina"), but this does not reach that level by far. My main objection is that it does not live up to the promise delivered by the famous names of the participants like Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Pat Metheny a.o. "Vera Cruz" is OK, but the rest is just too pretentious. Just as a warning to all Brazilian music lovers out there: this is certainly not a must have, apart from die hard Milton fans. I would rather recommend to check out the latest releases by fellow Brazilian Caetano Veloso ("Livro" and "Prenda Minha"), because they are really indispensable!

This CD is a must-have for any fan of Milton Nascimento. Nascimento's chemistry with jazz greats Wayne Shorter and Herbie Hancock is really sweet. I highly recommend this album.

You will find very interesting sounds in this record. Of course, you really cannot make a bad record when you combine the talents of Mr. Nascimento with that of others', such as: Peter Gabriel, James Taylor, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, Wayne Shorter, Etc.

To all of you who know and love Milton Nascimento's work and don't own this album, you're missing a lot! This album brings some of the best Nascimento's songs ever: Teia de Renda. Its heavenly melody is simply astonishing! Also,Certas Cancoes, which is one of the best melodies ever written! I know I sound like a die hard fan, but I can assure you can trust me in this one! Anima is a great, delicious and wonderful album, and it proves that Milton Nascimento is a real genius. Just listen to it. You won't regret!

Youve never heard music like this unless youve been present in a rumbon in a street alley of cuba or puerto rico. To listen to this album is not just pleasurable is an experience.

Other recommendations (of my favorites) are: Batacumbele (all their stuff is good, try los hijos del tambor or Con un poco de songo) if you can find them ,Cachao Lopez (descargas), Bobby Sanabria - Aché and Truco y zaperoko.

To sum it up for the people that read my review: Tata Güines is so good, that his album could contain a money back guarantee and the producer wouldnt have to sweat it,not for ONE SECOND, which is the same amount of time it takes Tata to hit the tumba five times.

This is a special order but it is worth the wait, do not cancel your order, just wait and be rewarded with a true classic.

Last words: If you are a conga player and try to follow on your own while listening to the CD be careful, you may have a heart attack while trying. The drums will explode in your chest.
