The Louisiana Washboard Five is a Norwegian band specializing in hot music of the 1920s. Instrumentation is a bit unusual,
but comes closest to Clarence Williams's Washboard Band, minus the piano: trumpet, clarinet/alto sax, banjo, washboard, tuba.
It's an exciting group to listen to, and there are many highlights on this CD. The title track, KING JOE, DIPPERMOUTH BLUES,
and especially SWEET SUE are all terrific (I've listened to SWEET SUE dozens of times and never tire of it). Ketil Saethre
plays a very hot trumpet. This is a most enjoyable CD, definitely worth checking out. I see the group has also recorded for
Stomp Off, which might be easier to find in the States. Great stuff!
