Be careful! This recording is identical to another one sold by called Rio das Valsas. The original, Brazilian edition is called VIOLÃO EM SERESTA, and has the same cover art as Seresta Brasileira. The recording dates from 1989. Whatever the title, it's some of the most beautiful music you will ever hear. Five stars plus.

I must be honest, didn't new anything about Mr. Baden Powell a year ago. I love guitar and my fave music is rock (progressive, hard, alternative, etc) and blues....so this may show how "objective" I am.
I was walking in a Rio shopping (actually I was lost, haha) and went into a music store. I asked for an instrumental brazilian cd and the retailer showed me this one. I didn't listen to it until I came back to Peru a week later, where I live.
My God. All these songs are magical and the guitar sound is so clean. This cd is wonderful if you want to create a quiet mood or "travel" to another dimension. I like all of the songs but my fave is "Tristeza e solidao" (wonderful choir....and it's more than 30 yr old!!!).
If you are guitarist or just like guitar this is a MUST HAVE.

this modestly priced double CD collection of Brazilian guitar master Baden Powell is a great sampler of his work as well as a wonder-full tribute to the recently deceased guitarist... this is a great first purchase of his music for those who do not have any of this important guitarist recordings in their collection as well as one of the best CD sets of brazilian guitar music that i've ever heard along with Bola Sete's "Ocean Memories"... i love this 2 CD set !!!

I found this album in a small record shop off the Avenida Paulista in Sao Paulo in 2003, while looking for quiet bossa guitar classics. The sound quality is amazing, each chord plucked clean ans the timbre full and rich. Each song has its distinct flavor, yet the songs segue smoothly into each other. Baden Powell is a true guitar genius. The music has never failed to calm, soothe and put us in a tranquil, relaxed mood especially after a rough day, the same way Kind of Blue does. When Ezra gave birth to our baby Jakob we put this on in the labor and delivery room, and the hospital staff all mentioned how great it was and asked for the artist and album information, intending to get their copies, from the doctor, anesthesiologist, to the nurses! At any rate, it worked like magic and my wife had a very easy delivery!
