Get out the blender & the Margharita Mix. Put on your sun glasses, press play and lean back in a beach chair and be prepared
for images of blue oceans, tropical breezes and palms. This import is a littly on the pricey side but well worth the purchase
price. A wonderful mix of Brazilian sounds that'll transform any drab cocktail party into an atmosphere of tropical delight!

When I am spending this kind of $ on an imported CD, without having heard it, I get a little nervous in view of some past
bad choices. Rest assured, there is not a bad track on it. The selection of material, from Stevie Wonder to Lennon to Sting,
while not Brazilian, seems written for a samba beat as performed by Ono and Deodato. The material is mostly upbeat, rare
in this post 9/11 world, but serves as a needed antidote to some of the craziness. The music is also exceptionally well produced,
and plays well without any boost in bass or treble even on my car stereo. It will make your world a prettier place.

I was walking through through shady shopping mall in Hong Kong looking for pirated software when I heard some bossa nova coming
from a tiny record store no more than 9 metres squared. I asked the guy, who was playing? and he showed me this album.
I immediately bought this one and two others by Lisa Ono. She's incredibly popular in the Far East being born in Japan to a father of Brazilian descent (I think). All of her music shines but this album just beats the lot.
Here's my Lisa Ono story. The husband of my wife's best friend is an executive at MTV Europe. When they come round for dinner, we're always embarrassed by what music we're going to play knowing whatever it is won't make the grade with this guy. Knowing that he would have never heard of Lisa Ono, we put this album on fearing the worst. Result, he loved it and we spent the whole evening listening to the other 3 CDs.

Lisa's ninth album, co-produced by Antonio Adolfo. Rio Bossa, released in 1996, is a wonderful bossa nova album, featuring
Lisa and Antonio's arrangements of famous Brazilian songs. Highlights on this album include "Sambaduro" (written by I.Lins/V.Martins),
"Deixa" (written by B.Powell/V.de Moraes) and "E Luxo So" (written by A. Barroso/L.Peixoto). Lisa consistently brings in the
best musicians and production values to all of her recordings. Lisa has been described as a "Japanese Astrud Gilberto" but
she's much more than that. This album, along with Namorada (1993), and Menina (1991) are a good place to start if you're not
familiar with Lisa's music. (But watch out! Lisa's music is very habit-forming. Once you get started you'll want to collect
all of her work!)
