Sergio Mendes Music

The tracks listed do not match the album shown. That's the only reason I give this two stars. I have been looking for the cd in the picture for years...still no luck! It's a classic to me and either everyone is hoarding it or no one else but me liked it.

I just finished ordering the Sergio Mendez Import album after an exhausing search. Brother and Sister music lovers, can you imagine such classics as "If I Ever Lose This Heaven" and "All in Love is Fair" have been "lost" to us for 25 years? The only vesions of the former are the Quincy Jones\Leon Ware collaboration, and Coke Escovedo's version which is also out of print. Mr. Mendez and Co. were a force to reckon with in several music genres for going on forty years. Perhaps this is partly why the forces of darkness at the top of the music industry has deemed to have the best of these 1970's work deep sixed! (...)

In 1983, Sergio Mendes returned to the label where he made his most memorable music, A&M. Of course, A&M had changed mightily by then, it became rock-oriented outfit instead of the cottage Latin pop industry it had been in the '60s. But so had Sergio - and so, backed by an army of L.A. studio folk, Mendes tried to recapture the old sales magic on the market's own terms. Amazingly, he did, scoring a huge No. 4 pop hit with a saccharine ballad, "Never Gonna Let You Go," where Joe Pizzulo and Leza Miller sing their banalities while Sergio strums and comps on synthesizers!!!!!! To say that anyone could have made this record may be overstating the case, but the fact is that there is no way of knowing that this is a Sergio Mendes record without looking at the jacket. And that goes for most of the rest of the mediocre, electronically upholstered dance and ballad material on the LP. Oh, "Carnaval" has some rowdy samba fever at times, but it is so slickly produced that one can't abandon oneself to the spirit. Aviod this album if you looking for Latin Music Instead of Pop fluff that could be mistaken for a Air Supply album.

THAT'S THE ONE THAT BELONGS TO THIS PICTURE! PLEASE CORRECT IT AND GET THIS ALBUM. I BEEN LOOKING FOR IT ON CD FOR YEARS!

The tracks displayed in the page belong to another Sergio Mendes album named also "SERGIO MENDES", in which cover, appears Mr. Mendes standing alone with a white background and no other images and the first track of it is the song DAVY.
Enjoy both of them, the one containing DAVY is a wonderful album.

this is a wonderful cd. it is worth the effort to find it for starters.
love is waiting and dream hunter are my favorites.

I bought this CD for the one song "Never Gonna Let You Go" but was pleasantly surprised to find that the whole CD was brilliant. A must have for any music collector.

I always wanted this cd. I loved the song "if love was waiting" and now I have it and play it all the time.
