I think this is the CD that arrived from Argentina in a paper envelope - not cardboard as the other 5 CDs were. When opened, the
lid of the container was broken at the hinge, maybe only to be expected because of the lack of toughness for international
shipping. Plays okay, though.

I have a lovely bit of history that seems to have slipped through the cracks.
Right after World War II, there were two kinds of phonograph turntables, little portable turntables were popular with teenagers, big turntables cost more, they were like investing in a piece of furniture.
As a result, fancy retail stores arranged their big HI-FI's next to the ovens and washer and dryers for sale!
At the end of the aisle, next to all the appliances were a couple rows of LP phonograph records.
My family moved to the Pacific Northwest during the early 60's, east of Seattle over the Floating Bridge in a little town called Lake Hills, Bellevue, it was a relatively new part of town catering to young families and a growing economy.
There were only a couple of fine retail stores that stocked records, record stores didn't appear on the Eastside untill after 1970.
I purchased the LP Antonio Carlos Jobim Wave in the summer of 1971, with my lawnmower money, when I was twelve.
One of my distinct vivid impressions of the early 70's is going next to the fancy washer and dryer Appliance section and admire the record slick of Antonio Carlos Jobim Stoneflower.
Jobim's suit and tie and well groomed look made a big impression on me.
Stoneflower helped define the early 70's. It was a big deal when it appeared on CD.
It's nice to see Wave, Stoneflower and Tide still register with the public.
To this day, whenever I study the front cover of Antonio Carlos Jobim Stoneflower, I'm driven to set aside a little nest egg to purchase my next Jobim.
The songs on Stoneflower are very delicate, they display great mastery,
a nice way to unwind.

This is a decent cd by Jobim, it starts off great, but tends to get a little avante garde on a couple of songs. Plenty of
great players on this one : Deodato as an arranger and guitarist, Ron Carter on Bass, Hubert Laws on Flute, etc. Check out
Wave/Tide and the song Favela.

Jobim's music will live for ever. Smooth, relaxing, stylish.

I'll add my praises of this disc to all the others. I fell totally in LOVE with Bossa Nova back in high school. I collected
everything I could, from Best of Sergio Mendes - which is also very highly recommended to those who love this genre- to Joao
Gilberto. In fact I made a trip to Brazil back in 1975 because I had to see this land where this sublime music came from.
Anyway back to the disc. I had everything Jobim had recorded but this one intrigued me the most. It was his darkest and most
complex. Worth adding to any collection of jazz, bossa, latin or anything else.
Maybe the most precious Jobim treasure

Another 5-star Jobim collaboration with producer Creed Taylor for his CTi label with arrangements by Deodato and a team of Jazz master musicians featuring Urbie Green and Hubert Laws.
Repertoire consists of Jobim material except for traditional Brazilian composer Ary Barroso's 'Brazil'.
Part of Jobim's compositions is music he composed for the film 'The Adventurers' also with arrangements by Deodato, issued in a very rare soundtrack album by Paramount label. Unfortunately, out of print.
Refer to the beautiful waltz 'Children's Games' which was also recorded by Elis Regina in her 'Elis & Tom' under the Portuguese title 'Chovendo na Roseira'.
A fundamental Jobim and Bossa Nova and Great Music album!

This is the greatest in bossa nova bar none and would be my pick of what music straight from Heaven sounds like. Antonio Carlos
Jobim is the underrated genius of the genre and his recordings are beyond words for description. Both cuts of "Brazil" are
priceless and the song "Sabia" is worth the price of this album alone. The new 2002 reissue has new liner nothes and a crystal-clear
sound, giving them the greatest of sound quality for the full effect. Do yourself a favor and get this, it will send you to
places you never thought possible.

we have a easy listening station called wktz and it's also on the internet at www.jones.edu and they have been on the air
since 1964 and my folks always had it on when they weren't playing the vast record and reel to reel collection my dad had.
and you heard a lot of percy faith and others as you do today on the station. I bought this set because every song you still
hear on the radio station here so now i have a nice collection for myself. So if you like to hear some good easy listening
music and can't find it go on the internet to the web site i have here and enjoy and they also list the songs playing and
the artist.

After the first few chords on this record I had a feeling that I was there, I felt landscapes, sand underneath my feet and
most important, the warm hand of my good friend. Claus Ogerman at his best, listen to take Double rainbow and dont blame yourself
for the mystical transposition into another, more quiet and loving galaxy. To share time and enjoyment with this record(originally
double LP set which I first bought from italy a long time ago) is a worthwhile experience. Memories, love and expectations
will raise during listening sessions. Two kites on the sky, dreamer double rainbow, and you'll find the treasure both not
on one side but on both sides of the rainbow. Jobim + Ogerman= heart and soul Absolute must for any serious music lover.

I am so pleased to see a CD version of one of my favorite of Jobim albums.
I have the original 2-LP set that was produced about twenty years ago and when I played it about six months ago, back at home in California, it still sounds wonderful. The sound is rich and full; the compositions range from the haunting Luisa to the Hector-Villalobos'like "Tren a Caparita."
This is a record that is best listened to late at night when there are no competing sounds and either you get lost listening to it or study the arrangements.
Enjoy and saludos, Rolando.

The problem with this album is that the songs are not sung in Portuguese and Jobim himself is singing them. Jobim is the best
composer of popular music in this century, and he deserves a world class interpretation. There are superior vocal albums with
Elis Regina (best), Astrud (cute), and Joao Gilberto singing. Or you can try the mostly instrumental versions such as Wave,
Tide, or Stone Flower. The rating is based on the better available alternatives.

Before this Jobim had released two great albums "Matita Pere" and "Urubu", where he seemed to try to go beyond the bossa-nova,
for which he was primarily known. Maybe these albums weren't commercially succesfull enough, at any rate he chose with this
album, to primarily return to his bossa-nova classics. Thus, even though the opulent title "Terra Brasilis" suggests, that
this might be a collection of tonepoems about Brazil, it's basically rerecordings of a lot of his bossa standards and even
some prebossa songs. Of course a lot of those songs are great, but Ogermans arrangements are a little too sugary and Jobim's
performances also sound a little sloppy, like he doesn't take it too seriously, which might have something to do with uninspiring
arrangements and him singing some songs, that probably were old to him and also in a language that wasn't his own. Maybe he
also just didn't think of himself so much as a performer. A pity because you only need to listen to "Ligia" from "Urubu" to
hear what a great singer he could be, when he wanted to and sang in his own language. Since it's originally a double album,
of course there are some good moments like "Voce Vai Ver" and "Two Kites" that shows, that he hadn't lost his songwriting
chops, but overall the whole thing, which might have worked if it had been edited down to a single album, is a little too
lacklustre and not exactly Jobim at his sharpest.

Middleaged and watered down bossa
