Bossa Nova has always been a favorite of mine and this one is certainly one of the best I have heard. It's timeless and very
memorable.

Annie Sellick ranks among the top female Jazz vocalists of today, including Jane Monheit, Diana Krall and Dee Dee Bridgewater
... need I say more? Nothing else that I could say would adequately convey the magnificence of her voice as well as just
listening to her music.

Yes, the musicianship is great. Both versions of "Brasil" are legendary, and the instrumentals blow you away everytime. But
what about the most stunning piece of music in the album, the delicate yet powerful "Sabiá"? Jobim and Chico Buarque wrote
that song in collaboration, that should be enough for you. But the delicate instrumentation combined with Jobim's trademark
raspy voice turn the whole song into something very hard to forget.
It does'nt get any better than this!

Looking for the the holy grail of Downtempo ,lounge, neo-bossanova ? here it is! This absolutely timeless and fortunately
saccarine free delight is all you need. Bossa-funk on the beach and intimate sexy whispers create an incedible sense of latin
ennui longing, nostalgia and the pain of love. Ah, if only King Tubby had sat at the controls alongside Deodato! (see my praise
for KT elsewhere in the AMAZON!).

This Jobim album was arranged by fellow Brazilian artist Deodato; the result is perhaps his best featured work (although my
favorites are his collaborations with Sinatra and Getz/Gilberto). The combination of the two is brilliant, synergistic and
wonderful; the selections are alive and are largely devoid of the "Muzak" quality of some of his other work. The Classic "Brazil"
is recorded twice on the album. "Andorinha" evokes a sun-drenched beach. "God and the Devil in the Land of the Sun" is an
epic gem. A great work which illuminates Jobim's genius.

This is Jobim's best work. It is inspired and inovative. The track of the classic "Brasil" by Ari Barroso is the most inspired
version I've ever heard (this track alone is worth the price).

Simply an excellent mellow , soothing Cd from the great Jobim. One track has vocals while all the rest are instrumental in
the usual Jobim Bossa nova style.
Excellent recording. Highly recommended !

I think this is the CD that arrived from Argentina in a paper envelope - not cardboard as the other 5 CDs were. When opened, the
lid of the container was broken at the hinge, maybe only to be expected because of the lack of toughness for international
shipping. Plays okay, though.

I have a lovely bit of history that seems to have slipped through the cracks.
Right after World War II, there were two kinds of phonograph turntables, little portable turntables were popular with teenagers, big turntables cost more, they were like investing in a piece of furniture.
As a result, fancy retail stores arranged their big HI-FI's next to the ovens and washer and dryers for sale!
At the end of the aisle, next to all the appliances were a couple rows of LP phonograph records.
My family moved to the Pacific Northwest during the early 60's, east of Seattle over the Floating Bridge in a little town called Lake Hills, Bellevue, it was a relatively new part of town catering to young families and a growing economy.
There were only a couple of fine retail stores that stocked records, record stores didn't appear on the Eastside untill after 1970.
I purchased the LP Antonio Carlos Jobim Wave in the summer of 1971, with my lawnmower money, when I was twelve.
One of my distinct vivid impressions of the early 70's is going next to the fancy washer and dryer Appliance section and admire the record slick of Antonio Carlos Jobim Stoneflower.
Jobim's suit and tie and well groomed look made a big impression on me.
Stoneflower helped define the early 70's. It was a big deal when it appeared on CD.
It's nice to see Wave, Stoneflower and Tide still register with the public.
To this day, whenever I study the front cover of Antonio Carlos Jobim Stoneflower, I'm driven to set aside a little nest egg to purchase my next Jobim.
The songs on Stoneflower are very delicate, they display great mastery,
a nice way to unwind.

Soundtrack was composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and the album is worth of for his work. There is a Jobim's standard here, the beautiful 'Theme for Gabriela'.
Gal Costa sings 2 songs, including the main Theme for Gabriela. Neglectable.
