Bossa Nova Music

If you like Bosa Nova style, you will find this CD breath taking. I have a lot of Bosa Nova CDs, this one is so incredible. I am just melting listening to this low voice with specific phrasing.

An atonishing perfomance for classic and news bossas novas. If you get breathless with the Live in Paris album from Diana Krall you will feel more breathless with this album. I bought this album on DVD format in Salvador(Bahia), Emilio santiago was quite unknown for me, but his grest voice mixing jazz and brazilian styles is quite wonderful. Also the very nice arrangements give a new air to the bossa nova with a grest orchestra. I strongly suggest to buy the DVD in order to enjoy with all your senses. The new bossa Doce Viver is extremely nice.

I hate to resort to a cliche, but if you don't like this record, you don't like jazz.

A fine band (a standout effort from Kenny Barron), great tunes, and inspired playing by one of the true greats. I can't help but think that Getz was acutely aware that he was running out of time to say what he had to say.

His playing was always beautiful, melodic and wickedly creative, but twoards the end of his life Getz added a profound emotional power to his already remarkable bag of tricks. Essential.

I would just like to advice people to pick up this great title. I listened to it through today again and I urge to you - please listen to the whole CD through. It is really very very beautiful music and things start to get really cosy after song 4. It is more straight jazz than "Bossas" which I think is used more for marketing purposes to tie in with the successful Bossa recordings by Getz.
The trio surrounding Getz is really very fine indeed. Barron's solos stand out and the recording is first rate!!

I have many albums and CD's of Stan. This is definately one of the best. Read the album notes and you will have a greater appreciation for the man.

Very sophisticated and super smooth.

Although the songs were recorded in 1989 two years before his death, this record shows that Stan Getz never lost his touch. The emotion that pours from his sax on this record is unbelievably moving. Listen to in particular "Soul Eyes" and "The Wind". If you are a fan of his music go buy it. You will not be disappointed!

This is a gem of a record, as the performances by Stan Getz, George Mraz, Kenny Barron and Victor Lewis are just superb. To think that it was a lost recording because of the not-so-serious other Stan Getz pop recording of the time is a tragedy. This CD exemplifies Stan Getz's artistic talents at its best!
