Bossa Nova Music

This is a really nice selection of bossa nova music, but my CD only had 20 tracks, despite being labeled as having 22. Did this happen to anybody else? Still, it's 20 tracks of really nice music, so I can't get too upset.

I haven't had much luck with trying to get good Brazilian music lately. This is just ok, not the type of Bossa Nova that you would usually think about with Brazil.

I usually approach Brazilian music from the jazz point of view, so this compillation was an interesting change for me - much broader in scope, full of interesting musicians and performances (only some of them quite close to jazz).

If you're a jazz fan(atic) this migh border on tedious and repetitive, but otherwise it's obviouslly interesting and challenging...
I'm therefore giving it a star above the level of my listening pleasure.

This collection is different from what I knew as bossa nova. It's jazzier and more upbeat. It's not exactly what I thought I would get, but I like it.

This CD provides you with some great tunes; danceable, easy to the ears, romantic and very sensual. The songs take me away and place me in the heart of Brazil; the land of high soaring spirits. Would highly recommend it.

What attracts me to Daisy's music is the fact that, while much serious jazz these days tends to be dark and brooding, Daisy finds a way to instill life and hope in the music. The Brazilian jazz on this album is a perfect fit for Ms. Chiang. Unfortunately, this CD doesn't communicate her playing as well as a live performance, but if you are in Southern California and get a chance to hear her play live, be sure to go -- you will be in for a real treat. This CD is recommended, as an introduction to a style of jazz, and as an introduction to an artist that definitely will go places in the future.

I'm a long-time Bossa lover. The song line-up looks interesting, but the approach to these classic tunes is lack-luster. The drummer seemed like he could not decide to play Bossa style or samba. The electric bass sounds cheesey. This is not Bonfa, B. Powell, C. Byrd, Almeida......

This is the first (and I hope last!) CD I have ever had that was made in China. Very inept work by someone who does not know what either Christmas music is or what Bossa Nova music is. This belongs in the dollar discount store!

This is the kind of music that will appeal to someone.... it's just not the person looking for an authentic Bossa Nova experience (or really any Brasilian style of music for that matter). Listen to the first track and decide if you like it, the entire CD sounds just about the same and you know right way if this is your proverbial 'cup of tea' or not. Me, not so much. Personally, I'm slightly offended the artist put this under Bossa seemingly serving financial motives, but if you can over look that (which I can't),maybe it's the right thing for you. Personally I would look for Lisa Ono's Boas festas CDs or perhaps the Brasilian Christmas CD and so forth instead.

I ordered this hoping for some nice, authentic Bossa Nova renditions of Christmas classics. When I put it into the CD player, I was not just disappointed, but somewhat mad. This muzak is NOT Bossa Nova. It sounds like some computer geek got an old Casio PT-80, selected the Bossa Nova "accompaniment" and played. The "horns" are nothing more than cheesy synthesizer sounds. If you like low-budget cruise ship muzak, then this is for you. If you are looking for Bossa Nova, then look elsewhere.
