A very good compilation. I purchased this for peanuts at strip mall during a visit to San Juan, PR! Well worth every penny.
Tarde em Itapoan is the most beautiful song I have ever heard! I am not exaggerating.
Great, GREAT! chillin' music. No matter where you are, when you listen to this CD, you're on the beach.
Great at twilight with wine and someone special.

Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66's hits are pretty much included in this CD. What a wonderful beat and what memories. I highly recommend
this CD to anyone wanting a good selection of his early hits. I found all the ones I loved on this CD plus a couple of others
that were a joy to discover.

I love the Bosa Nova sound, and Brazil '66 was the best. I play this CD contantly and never tire of it. Some younger generation
music lovers are really starting to listen and appreciate what Sergio Mendes brought us in the sixties. This CD is a nice
combination of their music and I highly recommend it.
Pure pleasure!

Listening to this CD transported me to another time and place. With it's calm, smooth and silky sound I forgot I was not on
some beach in Brasil 40 years ago sipping on something mild. I absolutely recommend this one.
Nice easy listening, with a Brazilian flavor!

I have enjoyed Brasil '66 since hearing Fool on the Hill on satellite radio. The group, working with jazz legend Herb Albert,
covers a number of easy listening hits, though spicing them up with a Brazilian flair. Check out Fool on the Hill, With A
Little Help From My Friends, and Scarborough Fair to see what I mean. Also check out Mais Que Nada, a nice song in Portuguese
(you don't need to understand Portuguese to like the song - I only understand a few words). In short, this is a very nice
sounding album for people who like soft, easy listening.

This is another sublime album by Joao; a great tribute from one Maestro to another (Antonio Carlos Jobim).
Every track on this album is meticulosly treated; all of them very subtle and low key, perfect for a romatic dinner.
Highlights? every single cut.
P e r f e c t.
P. S. No wonder Tom always kept a portrait of Joao on his piano.

Plus Warner Bros. Records wasn't really going the 'Extra Mile' on jazz releases during this period, so that could also account
for the poor sales. Never-The-Less a very enjoyable set from the start to the finish!

Antonio Carlos Jobim Terra Brasilis was a wonderful way to kick off the early eighties.
Formerly, a double LP, this CD has lovely pictures of the Composer, his Producer and Arranger, with great artwork and the legendary Terra Brasilis recordings... now available on a single CD for a nice price!
Buy and enjoy Antonio Carlos Jobim Urubu and Terra Brasilis together.
A wonderful lasting legacy to entreat heart and mind.

I am so pleased to see a CD version of one of my favorite of Jobim albums.
I have the original 2-LP set that was produced about twenty years ago and when I played it about six months ago, back at home in California, it still sounds wonderful. The sound is rich and full; the compositions range from the haunting Luisa to the Hector-Villalobos'like "Tren a Caparita."
This is a record that is best listened to late at night when there are no competing sounds and either you get lost listening to it or study the arrangements.
Enjoy and saludos, Rolando.

The problem with this album is that the songs are not sung in Portuguese and Jobim himself is singing them. Jobim is the best
composer of popular music in this century, and he deserves a world class interpretation. There are superior vocal albums with
Elis Regina (best), Astrud (cute), and Joao Gilberto singing. Or you can try the mostly instrumental versions such as Wave,
Tide, or Stone Flower. The rating is based on the better available alternatives.

Before this Jobim had released two great albums "Matita Pere" and "Urubu", where he seemed to try to go beyond the bossa-nova,
for which he was primarily known. Maybe these albums weren't commercially succesfull enough, at any rate he chose with this
album, to primarily return to his bossa-nova classics. Thus, even though the opulent title "Terra Brasilis" suggests, that
this might be a collection of tonepoems about Brazil, it's basically rerecordings of a lot of his bossa standards and even
some prebossa songs. Of course a lot of those songs are great, but Ogermans arrangements are a little too sugary and Jobim's
performances also sound a little sloppy, like he doesn't take it too seriously, which might have something to do with uninspiring
arrangements and him singing some songs, that probably were old to him and also in a language that wasn't his own. Maybe he
also just didn't think of himself so much as a performer. A pity because you only need to listen to "Ligia" from "Urubu" to
hear what a great singer he could be, when he wanted to and sang in his own language. Since it's originally a double album,
of course there are some good moments like "Voce Vai Ver" and "Two Kites" that shows, that he hadn't lost his songwriting
chops, but overall the whole thing, which might have worked if it had been edited down to a single album, is a little too
lacklustre and not exactly Jobim at his sharpest.
