Bossa Nova Music

This is a wide variety of smooth Latin jazz, but very little bossa nova, as only track 6 was real bossa nova. These tunes are modern, contemporary mild jazz arrangements, but not what a bossa nova collector is looking for.

I'm a big fan of Latin Jazz but I prefer mine with a heavy funky back beat, here you have a variety of artists contributing to this project with no lame effects included. A good complilation.

This CD is one of my favorites! I'm a Bossa lover, and this album contains some of the most famous songs, such as Quiet Nights, How Insensitive and Desafinado. This is a must-have. The only famous song missing is The Girl from Ipanema.

All these different cuts performed by many important Brazilian singers, are a great tribute to Bossa Nova, Pop, Funk, Brazilian Jazz master; Marcos Valle.
There are many highlights in this album, and I think is important to mention them all:

1) Caetano Veloso / Samba de Verao (This also appears on an album by Caetano dedicated to Bossa Nova gems).
2) Nana Caymmi / Passa por Mim (Check Nana's sultry voice and Cristovao Bastos' piano; superb).
4) Eddie Motta & Marcos Valle / Rockin' you Eternally (This is a rendition of a super hit written between Marcos Valle and Leon Ware back in the 70's).
7) Azymuth / Pigmaliao (This is Brazilian Jazz in a high note).
9) Wanda Sa & Roberto Menescal / Seu Encanto (This is another Bossa Nova gem Marcos Valle wrote in the 60's and here it's performed by two monsters of the Bossa Nova movement in a super-fresh version).
10) Emilio Santiago / Ao Amigo Tom (Emilio's golden voice features a great song Marcos wrote to another Maestro: Antonio Carlos Jobim).
13) Eumir Deodato / Adam's Hotel (This 1997 version of Eumir is as good as his original treatment of 1975 from his "First Cuckoo" album).
