Boogie Woogie Music

This is a great CD. The music is so uplifting that its hard not to listen to it and sit still. A great buy.

If you're a completist collector of early roots rock 'n roll, boogie woogie, r&b jump 'n jive or roots r&b, this is a nice little collection for the price (original list price of @$25).

The sound quality is just fair but it's really a nice roundup of most of the major artists and stylings of the era ... plus where are else will you find about 90 tracks with the word boogie in the title :-)

Now, there are a couple dozen tracks that hold up nicely and are still all great, there are a couple dozen that are still fun and the rest are interesting from a historical purpose so you're not getting 100 classics but if you appreciate the history of music and early rock 'n roll, you'll find value in this set even at twice the price but at this price, almost anyone who appreciate music will find it great fun.

I cannot speak for the rest of the work of the punk squad, but I know that I adore this one. Form the opening notes of "Accident Ahead" to that curt ending of "Make Time", you are hooked. Lyrically, the band has dark, almost Sex Pistol-like tones, describing broken up dates and college alcoholism. This isn't for the weak, but for the crowd that likes the Pistols or Wire, the hatred is addictive. This is one of those stand out albums that deserves a place in any collection along with Gang of Four's "entertainment", The Only Ones' "only ones", and Wire's "Chairs Missing".
