This CD is one of the funkiest jazz/funk albums I've heard in a long time! It comes from Teppo "Teddy Rok" Mäkynen (the drummer of Five Corners Quintet and Nuspirit Helenski, and leader of Teddy Rok 7), and you can tell from track one "Steve McQueen" that he and the band had a blast making this album. A nice surprise for me was the use of a vibraphonist on almost every track, and mixed with Teddy's funky, funky beats and amazing chord arrangements, man......you gotta pick this one up!

I lived in Charleston for several years during the rise of Mingo. The are a very talented local/regional band that brings crowds to their feet and gets them movin'. Nothing better than a Mingoshow and some cold beer for a great evening. Also there are always lots of chicks at their shows.

Uncle Mingo is a jewel in the midst of southern rock. Hailing from Charleston, South Carolina, the band tours constantly on the southern college and club circuits. Rock at it's finest with a jazz flair, Red Hot Chili Peppers comes to mind on several songs. Uncle Mingo gives a great show, watch out for Jason's pogo stick! This album and all others by Uncle Mingo are worth purchasing!
