I've had this CD since it came out and its still capable of being listened to all the way through. Again, the Bone Thugs
boys prove they are at their best when they're all together, Bizzy adds an element that I found their new Strength & Loyalty
album (a solid release) lacking. Also if you like this, Bone Brothers 2 was released this week, though it appears to be strictly
Layzie & Bizzy.

I Agree with of the one star reviews on this album, this album is so pointless and a major dissapointment from two of the
members of bone thugs & harmony, there is one good song from the album and that's it.
This is a painful experience from the bone brothers.
Big thumbs down for me.

Truth be told, this album isn't completely wack. Is it dangerously close? Yes. But two things keep this album from being wack:
1)decent (not great) production and 2)Krayzie Bone. If it wasn't for those two things, this album would be a certified drink
coaster.
There are plenty of reasons for why I think this album is mediocre. Apparently, Bizzy Bone has completely forgotten how to rhyme. Layzie Bone still has an ill flow, but he's not saying anything worth hearing. Just about every member of Bone has been rapping about "haters", backstabbers, and weed since they came out. It's time they update their content. Also, too many of the songs suffer from drowsy production and lame hooks. "D*ck Rider" would be a perfect example because the beat is weak, the hook is awful, and it doesn't really make sense if you listen to it.
There are some decent joints to be found though. "What's Friends" is cool if you can get past Bizzy's inability to stay on beat. The sad thing is the fact that the best moment of the entire album only lasts for 32 seconds. "Felicia Skit" should've been stretched into an entire song. "Hip Hop Baby" has a nice beat to it and Lay, Kray, and Biz all hold their own. "Real Life" is another decent track where Treach (from Naughty By Nature) and Krayzie make strong appearances. Honestly, the only good songs are the ones with Krayzie Bone on them, and not even all of those are good. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm a Krayzie Bone super fan. In fact, I always thought Bizzy and Layzie were the two illest members of Bone.....until I heard this album.
I can't really reccomend this to anyone. I guess if you're a longtime fan of the Bone/Mo Thugs family then I guess you'd have to get this to complete the collection, but I can't see anyone else buying this. Buy at your own risk. I reccomend downloading it and testing it out first.
Standout tracks: Real Life feat. Krayzie Bone & Treach, Felicia Skit (My Favorite), What's Friends feat. Krayzie Bone, Need Your Body feat. Krayzie Bone & Kareem, Hip Hop Baby feat. Krayzie Bone, and Give It To Me feat. Felicia Howse

very comfortable.

Joan Osborne has won me over again, this time as the singer of 70's soul covers and the writer of new songs to fall in love
with. I strayed over to this looking for a wife gift, I tend to listen to more Jazz and Blues vocalists, yet I found her voice
styling and her arrangements tight and complete. I can say proudly that my wife and I sang along with her on her covers of
Kiss And Say Goodbye, Midnight Train To Georgia, Sara Smile, Break Up To Make Up and Kiss And Say Goodbye. And other than
the overly maudlin Baby Is A Butterfly, Ms Osborne has given us a wonderful makeout album... oops cd.

Joan has a great soulful voice and she has proved her versatility in handling everything from melodic pop to twangy country.
Her love for Motown favorites can be felt on "Breakfast In Bed".
A homage to early soul songs from the late '60s, "Breakfast In Bed" shows Osborne wasn't a one trick pony with her huge single "(What If God Was) One of Us".
On her latest offering, she looks toward Motown, with worshipful, full-throated covers of R&B classics plus six original songs, each written with such R&B style that you first wonder if you've heard that tune before.
After last year's little-heard Pretty Little Stranger released only seven months before this one, she wraps her husky voice all the way around a bunch of classics such as "Ain't No Sunshine", "Midnight Train To Georgia" and Dusty Springfield's "Breakfast in Bed".
She's in fine voice throughout her debut album for Time Life, but the inclusion of her two phenomenal covers from Standing in the Shadows of Motown at the end of the collection actually highlights the album's shortcomings.
The album is a real mixed bag.
Her voice is excellent but her languid and almost emotion-free interptretations are pretty far from a specially adventurous and engaging record.
There are no ground-breaking elements here, nothing's memorable, rather the album sways towards mainstream R&B which is a shame as the soul tracks are excellent and her potentials are limitless.
It seems that she and the producer have chosen to favour the marketing and the charts over quality and originality.

The Breckers were often dismissed as shallow R&B fusion at the time of these recordings, understandable given the music's
rock star swagger and Michael's propensity to play as many notes as humanly possible. However, that doesn't take into account
Randy's innovative horn arrangements (tight clusters that ended up gracing hits by Diana Ross and Cameo, among others), the
revolutionary harmonic structure of songs such as "Some Skunk Funk," Michael's John Coltrane meets King Curtis saxophone wizardry,
or Randy's chromatic approach to the trumpet. The cuts on Volumes 1 and 2 gather together most of the Brecker's better tunes
and avoid their godawful attempts at pop (Fingerlickin' Good, Oh My Stars). There are a few missing tunes (the burning Tabula
Rasa, for example), but the only way you could do better than this would be to collect all the Brecker's cds, burn the best
cuts and make your own best-of collection.

The Brecker Bros. have won me over. Always a skeptic of those to dabble into the realm of modern/smooth jazz even slightly,
I was very slow to get around to listening to them. However, I was delighted by my findings: adrenalized, powerful jazz-funk.
Michael Brecker is no doubt at the top of today's large pool of sax players. Especially noteworthy is the complex intertwined
parts, and rapid firing note changes of the Brecker fan favorite Skunk Funk. If that song doesn't move you, you are immovable.
