Great retrospective of the Kings

10 Years Deep is a great look at the history of the Kottonmouth Kings from their humble beginnings in P-Town to the present day as one of the best underground groups around along with videos from Fire It Up and some live version of KMK classic Day Dreamin` Fazes and Bump. Plus the bonus material is excellent, especially the DJ Bobby B segment. The only negatives about 10 Years Deep is not enough Saint Dog and leaving out some stuff like Rob Harris being the first KMK DJ. If you`re a devoted Krowner, then it`s a great addition to the KMK DVD collection. However i highly recommend it to anyone that is new to the whole world of Kottonmouth Kings.

If you are a KMK fan from old school, or you just got on the wagon, you should have this DVD. Chronicling(sp?) the humble start to world recognized underground stars, this is awesome. My pre-order came today and at work with my portable player in the lunchroom I have enjoyed it. The only problem is the videos( not enough of them). If you have seen Stoners Reeking Havoc, Endless Highway, or the Dopeumentary you will know that they like to show off that they can puff a lot of herb. A must have for any fan.

I absolutely love this album. If you can still get you need to purchase it. I was lucky in that I live close to the small north Florida town where these guys started and where most of their distrubution of this CD took place. They play very live and upbeat tunes, but at the same time they still hold true to those Bluesie themes. I am fairly picky about music and mainly listen to Classic Rock, some newer Rock, and the Blues. And as far as whole albums go there are very few that I can say I could listen to every song over and over again. I can for this album.

10,000 Maniacs - Time Capsule (1982-1993)

This is a great product for any 10,000 Maniacs fan who enjoys watching their videos, since MTV and VH1 aren't the great "video" channels they once were.

Very Enjoyable

I'm embarrassed that I barely listened to this band very much despite growing up and listening to lots of music in the 80's. I always knew their popular songs, but never bought any albums or sought out anything beyond the stuff the radio spoon fed me. For that reason I decided to buy this DVD along with the "Campfire" greatest hits CD.

I really enjoyed this DVD as it gave a nice glimpse into the Maniacs throughout the majority of their career. The song list is more or less a greatest hits type deal, but there are some songs on here for the more serious fan. The videos and concert footage were really good, however, there could have been more supplemental interviews or commentary from band members to really tie the chronology together. Also, at just over an hour, there was obviously a lot of great material that was omitted. At the end of the DVD I was very satisfied with what I purchased. I'll definitely watch it again several more times in the future, and I certainly recommend it to any 10,000 Maniacs fan considering picking it up.

Classic, now on DVD

And, there's not much to say, if you're a fan of Natalie or the band. This has everything the previous video had, plus three additional videos. if you like the video that preceded it this Time capsule will allow you to recall, and relive, some great moments when Natalie was at her peak -- with Robert Buck and the band by her side.

the video transfer was done exceptionally well and the material has never looked better the additions make it a must own, so what the waiting for?

the other reviewers have said pretty much all there is to say: I will add, you should own this if you're a fan of Natalie or the band. It's just that simple. it'll make one a little bit sad since the band is no longer around to make great music, and we are all a bit older too.

If you are a fan of Natalie Merchant then . . .

A fun look back at 10,000 Maniacs and Natalie Merchant. It's a kick to see NM in the early years. Particularly entertaining in this regard are the live clips of "My Mother the War" and "Scorpio Rising". The paradoxically self absorbed/self conscious/wild abandon of her performance, (indecipherable lyrics and all) - is utterly charming. While I found some of the early videos to be amaturish, "Candy Everybody Wants" and "Like The Weather" were very well done and easy on the eyes. The footage with "Trouble Me" shows Merchant's compassion for the human condition. Particularly touching is the live footage of "Dust Bowl", not only for the heart wrenching lyrics and incredible vocal by Merchant, but also for the beautiful guitar work by deceased Maniac Rob Buck, who co-wrote the music. There are some weak parts on this DVD, but the best parts far outweigh this. After all, it is a retrospective, and if you are as charmed by NM as I admit to be, then get this by all means.

Great memories!

I owned the VHS version of this tape long ago (and probably still do if I dig through my old videos), and it was one of those tapes I never got tired of watching. For anyone who was a fan of the Maniacs back in the '80's and early '90's, you must get this DVD, and I am right now!

It features early footage of the band going back to the beginning of the '80's, and consists of home movies, early videos, and TV appearances. The VHS version stopped at the beginning of the '90's, just before they had their biggest commercial success, and just before Natalie left to go solo, so I'm thrilled to see the addition on DVD of their later videos including "These Are Days", etc. If you have forgotten about the band over the years, this will remind you just how good they were.

As the name applies, this really is a time capsule. I had seen the band on several occasions from 1989-93, and this video brings back many happy memories of those days.

Unfortunately, 10,000 Maniacs have been largely forgotten since Natalie's departure, and I was very surprised recently to find out that the band is still around, although they are not what they once were. Sadly, guitarist Robert Buck passed away several years ago, and there have been additional band members that have come and gone, but this video will remind you of the Maniacs at their best.
